HKEX ESG Implementation Review and the Improvement of the Enterprise Sustainability Management Seminar

16 October 2020 | Seminar

By 2020, the Environmental, Social and Governance Reporting Guide (ESG Guide), issued by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), has been implemented for more than four years. From July 1st of 2020, the updated version of HKEX will take effect, the ESG governance, practice, and disclosure requirement of the listed companies of HKEX will further improve. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Stock Exchange is deeply researching the ESG guidelines, and the information disclosure of A-share market will enter the era of strong supervision.

In 2020, the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic raged around the world, which has a major impact on the economic development of all countries. The resilience and sustainable competitiveness has increasingly become the endogenous demand for the survival of the company. The United Nations, the World Bank and the European Union have all closely linked the post-epidemic economic recovery and sustainable development. The international and domestic government   has paid greater attention to climate change and environmental protection, and General Secretary Xi has also put forward the goal of carbon neutrality in China by 2060. Meanwhile, the international capital market has paid more and more attention to ESG governance and information disclosure, and deeply incorporated ESG factors into investment strategies. Either from the perspective of responsibility or business development and financing capacity, the company needs to constantly improve the overall level of sustainable development and avoid ESG risk.

In order to explore how enterprises can better meet regulatory requirements and the increasing demands from investors and other stakeholders on non-financial information disclosure, as well as meet the internal needs of improving competitiveness and long-term development, Deloitte will host the 4th ESG Implementation Review and the Improvement of the Enterprise Sustainability Management Seminar on 16 October 2020, to discuss hot topics such as sustainable development goals, sustainability management, and ESG disclosure with participants from companies, regulatory institutions, rating institutions, and senior partners of sustainability services from Deloitte China.
