NEW YORK, NY, USA, 16 November, 2016 — Deloitte is pleased to announce that ALM Intelligence has named it a global leader in Security Operations Consulting (SOC) based on the breadth and depth of its capabilities, in their report, Security Operations Center Consulting 2016.

“ALM’s description of Deloitte as ‘an elite firm among its peers’ can be added to a long string of analyst assessments that position Deloitte as a preferred choice for a cyber risk consultant,” said Ted DeZabala, Cyber Risk Services leader, Deloitte Global.

In the report ALM Intelligence notes, “due to the pace at which the IT landscape and risks are growing and evolving, overall cybersecurity spend will grow, as will the incorporation of automation and machine learning, which will require large-scale changes in technology and process for monitoring threats.”

Specifically, for Deloitte, ALM Intelligence highlights, “The firm’s emphasis on aligning SOC initiatives to what matters to the business – including legal and regulatory requirements and education on threat actors – make Deloitte an elite firm among its peers when it comes to building a case for investment that resonates with business-side stakeholders.”

“As cyber threats grow exponentially, businesses struggle to keep up. This ALM report shows that Deloitte is differentiated as one of the few cyber risk consultants with the requisite talent, technical expertise, and global scope to effectively combat the threat,” said Ed Powers, Cyber Risk Services leader, Deloitte & Touche LLP.

The report lays out the opportunities and challenges for Security Operations Center consulting providers focusing on market trends, client spending forecasts, and the provider landscape. ALM Intelligence examines how consulting firms are guiding companies through IT investment, organization, and process decisions to establish or advance their SOC functions.

“ALM noted in its report that ‘Deloitte stands out through its emphasis on aligning the SOC function to the client’s business goals and needs,’ said Adnan Amjad, US Cyber Threat Risk Management practice leader for Cyber Risk Services, Deloitte & Touche LLP. “This client-first approach is especially well-suited to global organizations with complex IT systems, for which generic, off-the-shelf approaches prove insufficient.”

Additional Findings

  • “Deloitte’s SOC consulting offering is part of the firm’s Vigilant services, which sits within the Cyber Risk practice. The primary objectives of Deloitte’s SOC consulting services are to help clients better manage overall risk and set them up for continuous improvement. To achieve this, the firm emphasizes business alignment of SOC initiatives, threat intelligence gathering and sharing, and staffing/training, including participating in interviews and offering clients a shadowing program for different levels of SOC analysts.”
  • “Deloitte stands out through its emphasis on aligning the SOC function to the client’s business goals and needs. The firm provides clients not only with a detailed SOC framework that is the culmination of clearly defined assessments and analysis, such as its vulnerability assessment, but also a well-developed business case that resonates with the board and executives.”

As used in this press release, “Deloitte” refers only to the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited member firms.
