First European business idea competition

The first European Business Idea Competition for Information Communication Technology students and graduates took place in Nicosia, Cyprus on the 12th of July 2017, at the European University Cyprus. The competition was the final action of the ICT ENTREPRENEUR project, a European University-Business Alliance aiming to foster the entrepreneurial spirit of ICT.
During the Competition that was supported by Deloitte’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre, graduates from Germany, UK, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus presented their business ideas in front of the jury panel and approximately 130 attendees. Monica Ioannidou Polemitis, Director at Deloitte Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre was among the Expert Jury panel, which evaluated the teams and resulted in the selection of the three winners who won the financial prizes offered by Deloitte.
The 1st prize of €1200 was awarded by Ms Ioannidou to the Spanish Maria Martinez Moreno for her innovative idea for developing a matching platform for reducing waste, promoting recycling and reusing. The 2nd prize was awarded to BizSHIFT, coming from a German team, an app that is dedicated on building individual and fully automated apps. In the 3rd place came BRIGIT, developed by a Portuguese team, which dealt with a solution that provides a more efficient irrigation system that can potentially save up to 46% water.
Deloitte’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre supports innovation and entrepreneurship by providing support to start-up companies and young entrepreneurs and through different local and European programmes and initiatives.
