Investments of Czech companies into research and development (R&D) grow. Almost one-third (31%) spent more than 10% of their revenues in R&D last year. This is one percentage point more than in the previous year. Only 2% of the companies did not invest at all (11% in 2016).

The availability of housing in the Czech Republic is the worst compared to selected countries in Europe. On average, a new flat amounts to 11.3 multiple of an average annual income. The period is even longer than in Great Britain (9.8) where nominal property prices are by far the highest.

On average, the process of obtaining a construction permit for new residential property development projects in Prague takes seven years. The complete process from the first phase of the pre-project preparation to the completion of the construction then takes almost nine years.

Deloitte: Czech Republic Placed 26th in the Social Progress Index, Obtaining More Points but Slipping in the Ranking
The Czech Republic took 26th place in the international Social Progress Index 2018. The annual ranking is prepared by the non-profit organisation Social Progress Imperative together with Deloitte, using data on social and economic developments and the environment.

The film production in the Czech Republic directly and indirectly produces sales of over CZK 104 billion, ie 1.1% of GDP. In the Czech Republic, mainly foreign films (55% of overall production) and adverts (31%) are made, Czech films taking the third place (14%).

More than three quarters of government buildings in the Czech Republic are not energy effective. This represents a loss of approximately half a billion Czech crowns per year. Those are conclusions of Deloitte's study Energy Savings in Public Administration.
