We know our business
With a history spanning 170 years in 150 countries across the world, Deloitte couples its vast international experience with the local context. We have been doing business in the Czech Republic since 1990.
History in the Czech Republic
Our history in the Czech Republic goes back to 1990 when Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu established its first office in Prague with 5 employees and 3 partners.
Five years later, there were as many as 260 of us.
In 2003 we changed names to Deloitte and came up with the green dot.
As the number of employees and the requirements for sustainable development increased, Deloitte moved to bigger offices in 2005, to the environment-friendly Nile House in Prague. The same year saw the launch of Deloitte’s Ostrava office.
Since 2007, you can also find us in Brno.
In 2010, Deloitte Global became the largest professional services firm worldwide.
One year later, our ranks were swelled by the Ambruz & Dark legal firm, which became part of the Deloitte network.
In 2014 we opened our newest office – in Plzeň. One year later, we crossed the threshold of 800 employees.
2016 was marked by a brand refresh. After 13 years, Deloitte changes its logo and visual style of communication.
Deloitte opens its fifth office – in Hradec Králové.
The following year, in 2017, the Czech company Kiwi.com won the first place in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 CE ranking.
In 2018, we launched our innovation programmes: Singularity University, Start-Ups programme, Future Port and KidsXO. The law firm Ambruz & Dark officially renamed itself Deloitte Legal and this year’s Technology Fast 50 CE was won by the Czech company Prusa Research. We also published our first Deloitte Czech Republic Impact Report. And the Ostrava office relocated to a new address on Prokešovo náměstí.
2019 brought a relocation to new offices in Italská Street in Vinohrady.
A year later, we celebrated 30 years since the founding of Deloitte Czech Republic and 175 years of the Deloitte global brand. 2020 was also the first year of the Covid pandemic – and during this uncertain period, we helped schools set up online learning through our Deloitte for Schools programme. In the same year, we also announced the results of the first annual Czech Best Managed Companies programme.
Since 2021, we have had our own fully professional TV and digital studio in Prague. In the same year, we used it, among other things, as part of the CzechSetGo! initiative, a series of conferences aimed at accelerating digitisation and speeding up the Czech Republic’s innovation and technology boom. In our online broadcasts, we focused, for example, on the digitisation of healthcare, public administration and education. In the same year, Czech fintech startup FTMO won the Deloitte Technology Fast 50.
The following year – in 2022 – FTMO repeated its success in the main competition. And it was not the only Czech success in this year’s edition. In the Companies to Watch category, for fast-growing young companies, another Czech company, DIANA Biotechnologies, won gold with a record growth rate of 100,314%. This year, we also developed a voicebot and chatbot, IRENA, for OPU, which helps Ukrainian refugees.
