The first Deloitte LegalTech Hackathon Won by a Consumer Protection Application

Prague, 12 November 2018 – A customer protection solution has won the first LegalTech Hackathon organised by Deloitte Legal. The Reklamaczech application provides automated solutions for consumer issues faced by ordinary customers. The winning team consisted of Tomas Ye, Phuong Thao Hoang, Jiří Stýblo, Filip Volf and Pavel Rambousek. The main prize was CZK 40 000 and an opportunity to deliver a presentation at an international conference, Innovative Legal Service Forum, to be held in Prague in May 2019.

Deloitte hosted the LegalTech Hackathon last weekend, from 9 to 11 November. Thirty university students of law, technology and economy participated in the competition for the most innovative legal solution. Their teams created six innovative solutions combining law and technology during the weekend.

In the second place was iNomad, a solution connecting legal students with employers. The LEGAIL application with a chatbot simplifying distribution of legal tasks came third.

“Our LegalTech Hackathon showed that there are many legal topics with a potential for innovation. Each team solved an entirely different problem. No solution occurred twice and the jury had a hard time to select a winner,” says a jury member Martin Bohuslav, Partner at Deloitte Legal.
“The results indicate that the combination of the best legal knowledge and technology is the future of law which clients should demand from lawyers already today“.

In addition to Martin Bohuslav, the jury consisted of Petr Gronát from Avast; Michal Bída from IBM; Josef Havelka, advertising expert; Senta Čermáková, Deloitte Innovation Director; and Jaroslav Kramer, the Innovative Legal Service Forum organiser.
