Tatchamon, Consultant in Tax & Legal at Deloitte Germany, works on topics leading to a highly diverse working environment that fits her multicultural background perfectly.

Sawadee ka (“hello” in Thai), my name is Tatchamon and I work as a Consultant in Tax & Legal at Deloitte Germany.
Since July 2018, I am part of the Transfer Pricing team in Hamburg – where diversity and inclusion is a part of our everyday working life. We have a rather diverse team, catering to clients' diverse requirements. Despite coming from a different cultural background, I have felt nothing but supported in my journey here at Deloitte Germany and thus, I am a huge advocate of diversity and inclusion. One more reason to talk about this topic.

Our team comprises of people from different academic and cultural backgrounds. This environment has definitely worked to our advantage. Diversity makes for a stronger team at work.

What does it mean to you to work in a diverse environment?
In Transfer Pricing, we assist our clients in matters relating to cross-border inter-company pricing. Therefore, the nature of work within the field of Transfer Pricing is a diverse environment in itself. In one project, I could be working with Deloitte colleagues from several countries as well as coordinating deadlines and documents with client branches in different regions. I could have communications with people from Asia, North America, or Latin America which sometimes sums up to 10 different or more countries or more in one day. Different academic and cultural backgrounds definitely are daily features of my work – the features I highly value and enjoy!

How has diversity helped you so far in your daily work or your career?
Diversity has played a major role for me, especially in preparing me for Germany. I was born and raised in Bangkok by Chinese parents. At a young age, I was enrolled in an English-speaking international school, and I studied in Lucerne as well as interned in Shanghai before coming to Hamburg. Having been exposed to various environments has certainly helped prepare me to navigate interactions in my current working environment at Deloitte, such as knowledge sharing across borders.

How did you experience working with diverse colleagues? What did you learn from it?
Working with colleagues from many different backgrounds characterizes my whole career so far. Our clients' and projects' requirements are quite diverse, but so is our team. In order to be able to cater to this wide range of tasks, our team comprises of people from different academic and cultural backgrounds. This environment has definitely worked to our advantage. Diversity makes for a stronger team at work.

What is your perception of diversity at Deloitte?
Deloitte is extremely diverse because it erases borders. Hearing English spoken in the hallway, although we are not in an English-speaking country, is the norm, and says a lot about Deloitte and its position on diversity. While I know that I have a rather diverse background, I am not the only one with such a story at Deloitte.
