About the webcast

The "Digital Global Immigration Symposium 2021" will take place virtually in two separate sessions of 120 minutes each. Deloitte experts from all around the world will share their insights and detailed knowledge with you in an innovative digital forum with small workshop sessions. We will provide an interactive platform to network with like-minded people and immigration experts.

Agenda

The agenda will encompass the following:

  • Small interactive sessions on how immigration processes and practicalities have changed in some key locations:
    • Morning session: Australia, China, France, Germany, South Africa and UK 
    • Afternoon session: Brazil, Czech Republic, Poland, Switzerland, UAE and USA
  • Hot topics and trends in the field of immigration worldwide with focus on recent topics, such as remote work, business travel, travel restrictions and quarantine requirements
  • Best practices & lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Industry panel where peers in the mobility world will share their own experience

Due to the international character of the event, it will be held in English. To ensure that we can offer small interactive sessions, the number of participants will be limited.

Keynote Speaker

Jonathan Appleton
Managing Director, ABSL Czech Republic

Jonathan Appleton is the Managing Director of ABSL Czech Republic representing the interests of Global Shared Service Centres and outsourcing firms in the Czech Republic, one of Europe’s top outsourcing destinations. Jonathan has over 20 years professional experience in the CEE region, previously also as Director at PwC Czech Republic, where he supported clients from the business services sector in the Czech Republic and across CEE.

Susanne Turner
Germany

Susanne joined Deloitte Legal as a Partner in October 2017 and leads the German firm’s immigration practice.  Susanne has more than 20 years expertise advising and assisting clients with their immigration related needs. She specifically concentrates on complex business visitor, cross-border, C-Suite and citizenship law issues. Susanne has also been a client services lead on DAX-30 and Fortune 500 accounts.

Susanne actively contributes to several committees of the American Immigration Law Association (AILA) on global immigration and lectures at the Goethe University in Frankfurt on global mobility and immigration topics. Susanne is fluent in German and English.

Sophie Carlei
France

Sophie currently serves as a Director under Global Employer Service in the Lyon Office managing the immigration team. Besides her day to day role as an immigration expert, she is invited to speak at client conferences and training sessions. Furthermore, she participates to the organisation of conferences overseas (Shanghai, Peking, Abu Dhabi, etc.) in collaboration with the French Embassies and French Chambers of Commerce.

She advises companies daily on the professional immigration of their foreign employees in France and ensure compliance with applicable French regulations. Furthermore, she also deals with other fields of immigration law (family reunification procedures, applications for the acquisition of French nationality).

Tereza Kavan Klimesova
Czech Republic

Tereza is a Partner in the Global Employer Services (GES) department of the Tax & Legal Department. She joined the Deloitte office in Prague in 2002 and specialises in the issue of seconding employees to and from the Czech Republic, not only from the viewpoint of general taxation of individuals but also in terms of the overall settings of the legal structure of these assignments, the impact on the home and host companies, provision of immigration documents, determining the appropriate social security system in line with the EU coordination rules or bilateral contracts, and setting suitable, tax-effective benefits.

Tereza is member of the Chamber of Tax Advisors of the Czech Republic and has extensive experience in dealing with the Czech Taxation Authorities, Czech Social Insurance Authorities and Health Insurance Companies. Tereza is fluent in English.
