With COVID-19 vaccination taking place throughout Europe and the United States, employers should be evaluating several issues that may impact their workforce, including whether they can make vaccination mandatory, how to encourage their workforce to get vaccinated, if they can request for employee’s vaccination status, etc. What legal actions can employers take on their workforce with respect to vaccination? We’ll discuss:
- Whether employers can impose vaccination of their workforce?
- If not, what other measures employers can take.
- Whether employers can organise their own vaccination programme.

Andreas is Partner and joined Deloitte Legal in 2000. Andreas specializes in corporate law and mergers and acquisitions and advises internationally operating mid-size companies and multinational groups of companies. His main fields of advice include cross-border sales and acquisitions of companies, restructuring and reorganization of groups of companies. Andreas has worked closely with many multinational groups in structuring their German and European operations. He advised on a huge number of cross-border corporate structuring projects and has a profound experience in legal project management and in IP migration projects. Andreas is heading the Japan Desk of Deloitte Legal in Germany. He is member of Deutsch-Japanische Juristenvereinigung, Deutsch-Japanischer Wirtschaftskreis as well as Deutsch-Amerikanische Juristen-Vereinigung. Andreas is admitted to the bar in Germany. Klaus Heeke is partner at Deloitte Legal in the Düsseldorf office of the German practice and joined the firm in 2010. He is head of the employment law department in the Dusseldorf office as well as of the German service line employment law & benefits. Klaus has more than 15 years of experience in all areas of German labor law. He represents the legal interests of both domestic and international companies at court as well as out of court regarding all questions relating to individual and collective labor law. Klaus has long-standing expertise with regard to restructuring measures that are driven by employment aspects as well as support and execution of M&A transactions.
