Webcast in German language – feel free to contact any member of our team for explanations in English.
In our Deloitte Legal Update webcast series, we address current legal issues - both in dealing with COVID-19 and the consequences of the pandemic, as well as other legal trends and developments that are important for corporate practice.
This time, the Deloitte Legal Dispute Resolution Team will give an update on current developments in litigation with a focus on the emerging mass litigation industry and how new legal tech companies are geared up to collect millions of claims against corporates and the state. We will give you an impression, how to prepare for this new threat and how to defend companies against mass claims.
The rule of more.
It’s a complex world and companies are challenged with increasing regulations (Supply Chain Act, anti-discrimination legislation, antitrust legislation, data protection, consumer protection, product liability etc). But not only is it becoming more and more complex to comply with rules and regulations. Modern technology allows consumers more than ever that claims are indeed made against companies. In the past a consumer had to file an individual claims to claim damages. Today, with a few clicks in the internet, claims are sold to legal techs, financed by private investors and hedge funds with millions of Euros, creating a new claims industry.
Companies need to be prepared to defend against this new threat and organize their litigation capacities.
The Deloitte Legal Dispute Resolution Team represents clients in (pre-trial) out of court negotiations as well as in litigation and arbitration in all areas of law. Our teams handles complex domestic and multi-jurisdictional disputes together with our colleagues in 85+ jurisdictions.
