In our Deloitte Legal Update webcast series, we address current issues around the topic of "ESG - Green Financing". The sustainability of finance - in English: "Green Financing" or "Sustainable Finance" - is at the top of the agenda these days. This applies not only to politics, legislation and supervision, but also to the financial service providers concerned and their customers. Sustainable investments, CO2-neutral financing and insurance products that take climate change into account are becoming increasingly important.

Against this backdrop, the volume of financing that takes ESG issues into account has increased sharply recently. This is particularly evident in the bond markets, but impact investing and ESG themed funds are also increasingly becoming the focus of international financial sponsors, as well as large institutional investors. Driven by a strong demand for sustainable investment opportunities and given the large financing needs to address current environmental challenges, it can be assum ed that the importance of sustainable finance will continue to grow in the future. Due to more difficult KfW funding conditions and the associated decline in funding, financing via green bonds is becoming increasingly important.
