Deloitte Legal advises Austrian Mayr-Melnhof Holz on acquisition of German Huettemann Holz Group

A multidisciplinary Deloitte team advised the Austrian Mayr-Melnhof Holz Group on acquisition of the German Huettemann Holz Group with sites in Olsberg (North Rhine Westphalia) and Wismar (Mecklenburg-West Pomerania).

With the acquisition, Mayr-Melnhof Holz supplements its glued laminated timber divisions and makes the Mayr-Melnhof Holz Group the leading supplier of glued laminated timber in Europe. The purchase price is confidential. The acquisition is subject to the approval of the relevant competition authorities in Germany and Austria.

Background:

The Mayr-Melnhof Holz Group is headquartered in Leoben, was founded in 1850 and currently employs around 1,650 staff. The company is divided into Sawn Timber and Fabrication and Finishing Divisions and achieved an annual turnover of around 550m Euros in 2017. The Hüttemann Group was founded in Olsberg in 1891 and today has around 250 employees. The company has three divisions: Timber Engineering Service, Construction and Masterwood. The two sites in Olsberg and Wismar together generated an annual turnover of around EUR 65m in 2017 from production of glued laminated timber and associated services.
