Blockchain and crypto expert Alireza Siadat joins Deloitte Legal as partner in Frankfurt
Deloitte Legal is strengthening its cross-office team in Banking & Finance and FSI Legal at its key banking location of Frankfurt am Main with the hire of renowned blockchain and crypto expert Alireza Siadat (41), who will become a partner at Deloitte Legal as of 1 February 2025.
Alireza Siadat is a recognised expert in blockchain and crypto. He has worked as a lawyer in leading law firms since 2012 where he established and developed advisory offerings for blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT). He most recently served as a partner in a law firm specialising in regulatory law in the financial sector. In the crypto market he is well-known as a co-founder and board member of various blockchain and crypto associations as well as think tanks, and is an expert for many blockchain and crypto-related legislative initiatives. He is co-editor of the Journal for the Law of the Digital Economy (Wolters Kluwer) and has authored numerous publications on blockchain and DLT.
At Deloitte Legal, Alireza Siadat will primarily focus on advising providers of DLT, blockchain and crypto-assets-related services, working closely with our other Deloitte divisions, in particular Consulting, Risk Advisory and Financial Advisory. His future tasks will also include further expanding the firm’s cross-border cooperation, especially in the DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and Liechtenstein regions, the United Arab Emirates, as well as Luxembourg, the UK and the US.
As Dr. Mathias Hanten, Head of FSI Offering at Deloitte Legal, underscores: "We are very much looking forward to working with Alireza Siadat. Thanks to his outstanding expertise and reputation, he rounds off our service portfolio and opens up new areas of consulting with his experience. Having worked for many years as an author, served with various associations and bodies and played an important role in providing advice on legislation, he has shown that he not only masters the core function of the legal profession but is also helping to shape the professional discourse in the DLT and crypto sector".
Dr Markus Schackmann, Managing Partner of Deloitte Legal, adds: "With his thoroughgoing expertise in DLT and crypto, Alireza Siadat expands our advisory offering beyond the banking sector. The fact we were able to win him over to Deloitte Legal just goes to show how attractive we are for lawyers at the top of their profession".
On the reasons for his move, Alireza Siadat said: "I am particularly impressed by the dynamic environment at Deloitte Legal - characterised by strong service lines, interdisciplinary collaboration, technological and digital orientation and broad networking across all sectors of the economy. Coming on top of that is the firm’s international orientation and my future partners’ ambition to continuously develop the advisory services in the best interest of our clients. Last but not least, during my interviews I also witnessed the excellent corporate culture of the Deloitte partnership. The Banking & Finance and FSI Legal divisions are superbly positioned, providing me with an excellent platform.”
