Deloitte Legal advises Saarbrücker Zeitung on the sale of Lausitzer Rundschau

A team led by Düsseldorf-based M&A-partner Michael von Rüden advised Mediengruppe Saarbrücker Zeitung on the sale of Lausitzer Rundschau Group to Märkisches Medienhaus GmbH & Co. KG, a subsidiary of Neue Pressegesellschaft. The scope of the transaction comprises the sale of LR Medienverlag und Druckerei GmbH as well as various subsidiaries.

The transacting companies signed a sale and purchase agreement in early March. The completion of the transaction still requires the approval of the committees of Saarbrücker Zeitung and the approval of the German antitrust authority (Bundeskartellamt). Details are kept confidential.

Mediengruppe Saarbrücker Zeitung is majority-owned by Rheinische Post Mediengruppe, which has been regularly advised by Deloitte Legal on M&A-transactions in the past.

Neue Pressegesellschaft was advised by Anwaltssozietät Kees Hehl Heckmann located in Stuttgart.

Background:
Lausitzer Rundschau is published in Südbrandenburg and Nordsachsen in 13 local editions and according to publisher data, with a sold circulation of about 76,300 copies reaches daily 260,000 readers. The company employs about 300 permanent employees.
