Deloitte Legal advises Rheinische Post Mediengruppe on acquisition of Bonner General-Anzeiger
A team led by Düsseldorf-based M&A-partner Michael von Rüden advised Rheinische Post Mediengruppe, which apart from Rheinische Post also includes a majority stake in Saarbrücker Zeitungsgruppe as well as a participation in the publisher of Aachener Nachrichten/Aachener Zeitung, on the acquisition of Bonner General-Anzeiger. Both parties have agreed not to disclose any details of the transaction.
With the acquisition, Rheinische Post Mediengruppe will significantly expand its activities in the important core market of North Rhine-Westphalia in the daily newspaper business and also strengthen its position as "Voice of the West". In addition, it will complement and expand its business segments classifieds NRW and radio through the participations of the Bonn group.
The Düsseldorf M&A partner Dr. Michael von Rüden has repeatedly advised the Rheinische Post Mediengruppe on transactions such as the acquisition of a majority shareholding in the Saarbrücker newspaper group, on the sale of its activities in the Czech Republic and most recently on the sale of the Lausitzer Rundschau, which until then had been held by the Saarbrücker Zeitungsgruppe.

The Rheinische Post Mediengruppe is a medium-size European media company. In Germany it publishes the daily newspaper with the largest circulation in the Rhineland: with about 279,000 copies daily, the Rheinische Post reaches about 778,000 readers.
