The Middle East Forensic practice continues to grow from strength to strength

In line with the expansion of our Forensic practice in the Middle East, we are pleased to announce three recent senior promotions and hires.

Rana Shashaa was promoted to Partner on 1 June 2019. Rana has over 14 years of experience at Deloitte, working on high profile investigations and litigation matters across the Middle East region and Europe.  She brings a wealth of experience to the Forensic Investigations and Disputes team, and acts as an expert witness before the Courts in the UAE.

Commenting on her recent appointment, Rana said, “I am honoured to be joining the leadership team as a Partner. Our priority is to continue building the team’s expertise, increase our impact in the region and continue to extend our strongest support to our clients.”

Rana’s appointment follows that of Nick Athanasi, who has transferred from Deloitte UK as Partner to lead the Forensic Technology team in response to the growing demand for the use of technology to investigate, detect and prevent fraud and abuse. Nick leads the largest technology team in the region, which provides computer forensic, electronic discovery and forensic analytics services to our clients.

We continue to work on some of the largest and most sensitive investigations in Saudi Arabia and we were delighted to welcome Majdi Al-Madani to the firm in January 2019 to lead our team in Kingdom. Majdi has a background in law and is a Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Risk Analyst, in addition to many years of experience in fraud and regulatory investigations, anti-bribery and corruption, and disputes.

Neil Hargreaves, Middle East Forensic leader commented, “We continue to see high demand for forensic and dispute services in the region and I am delighted that Rana, Nick and Majdi have joined the leadership team to serve our clients in this highly sensitive and specialized field.  Our investment in local talent over the last few years is resulting in the promotion and hire of exceptionally talented professionals.”
