Walid heads Deloitte Private and the Family Enterprise Consulting practice across the Middle East, covering over 15 countries. He is a leading expert in the area of family governance in the GCC and the MENA region. In 2017, Walid celebrates 35 years of professional experience working across the five continents, of which 20 years in his capacity as a family business advisor, serving elite business families in the Region. He is among the first to have advocated the need to introduce family governance to the Middle East, as a means to manage risk and preserve family wealth. Walid is also an international corporate finance Lawyer, and an accredited Mediator specialized in managing intergenerational conflicts.
Walid has worked with over 100 prominent business Families in the Region, devising multi-generational succession plans and governance systems. He currently acts as a Personne de Confiance to a number of elite families in business. He builds and serves Family Offices and is known for his creative and innovative region-specific tools, tailor-made and specifically designed to achieve harmony, fairness, and transparency, within a family business context. Walid is a relentless advocate of family Governance and a regular guest speaker at a number of international forums. Over the past ten years he was invited to speak on numerous occasions at the American University of Beirut, the Olayan School of business, and at HEC-Paris, Doha Campus, Executive MBA Program. In 2016, he was invited to facilitate Module 2 - Family Governance, Cercle des Dirigeants, at École Supérieure des Affaires, Beirut.
