Our expert Energy, Resources & Industrials : Johannes Trüby, Director Economic Advisory
What are the opportunities and challenges from hydrogen as a source of reliable and low carbon energy ?
Johannes presented the outcomes of a recent study called "Hydrogen4EU" designed and managed by Deloitte with a modelling done by research labs, IFPEN from France and SINTEF from Norway, that assesses the role of hydrogen in achieving net-zero emissions in the EU energy sector.
This exceptional study has been backed and funded by a diverse set of 17 leading energy companies from around the world. It is a research-based approach using peer-reviewed and proven modelling tools and primary data research. It offers a comprehensive assessment of all energy-using sectors – industry, transport, power, buildings – in all European countries. More than 50 stakeholders from the hydrogen sector including policy-makers, industry, academics and civil society have been consulted. It took 14 months to identify accurate data, interview stakeholders and understand the opportunities and challenges for new technologies. All of this put together, we have produced the most comprehensive study on the role of hydrogen in the energy transition.
