Life at Deloitte
Fernanda Alvarez De Lugo | New Zealand
What has been your favorite part of working for Deloitte?
The challenges presented on a daily basis. There is a constant rush of adrenaline for high-quality completion of projects. This makes it challenging, but fun at the same time.
What has been most interesting, challenging, or surprising about working for Deloitte?
I am surprised how quickly the days go by. When I was little, my mum used to tell me “Time is money.” At the time, I did not really understand what she meant. I totally understand that now, it is impossible not to!
What will stand out for you as the greatest benefit of working for Deloitte?
Aside from gaining significant experience in the short time I have been working here, it would be the exponential learning curve since day one. I have acquired a whole new set of skills that I will continue developing, shaping, and changing for the future.
What is it about working for Deloitte that inspires you the most?
The people. Being surrounded by such bright people. It shows me that together we can make a difference to clients and in this world.
How has Deloitte invested in you as a leader, helping you grow?
Leaders and colleagues at Deloitte New Zealand ask for my professional opinion/point-of-view, respect me as a valued member of the team, and let me own and deliver projects. Also, the firm has allowed me to invest time in professional development and self-learning of new systems and tools.
How do you feel that you have been able to make an impact while working at Deloitte?
I have been able to make an impact by pursuing innovation, seeking excellence, and finding new and better ways to deliver value within the business intelligence reporting space. I have also had the opportunity to volunteer alongside my team, with the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal for The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation and by dedicating a day to making lunches for children that go to school without food.
