Tell us about your career path at Deloitte (How long have you worked for Deloitte, how has your career evolved?)
I received two scholarships—from the firm’s annual Impact Day and from Deloitte Vietnam’s Lighting Up Your Future Scholarship—when I was attending university. I worked as an intern at Deloitte Vietnam, eventually becoming a full-time employee of the firm. I have been working with Deloitte Vietnam for more than three years now. Beginning as an assistant who supported the general duties of the secretary team, I developed my technical and soft skills. After two years, I transitioned to a role as assistant for an audit director. This was a big achievement for me, as someone who is in a wheelchair.
What has been your favorite part of working for Deloitte?
Deloitte Vietnam’s management always focuses on looking after employees in order to ensure that they have a work-life balance. There are a number of programs organized to improve different elements of employees’ lives. My favorite part of working for Deloitte Vietnam is taking part in these programs, such as: corporate social responsibility programs where I contribute to philanthropic activities that help people and households overcome difficult situations; D-coffee, a series of meetings where I meet highly-successful people in the finance and accounting fields and learn a lot from them; D-hour, a program where I can relax and enjoy delicious food with my colleagues in the peak season; and also firm initiatives such as Deloitte Family Day, Deloitte Cinema Day, and others.
What will stand out for you as the greatest benefit of working for Deloitte?
The greatest benefit of working for Deloitte Vietnam is that it is like one big family and a wonderful professional environment to develop your career and learn from colleagues.
What is it about working for Deloitte that inspires you the most?
Deloitte Vietnam is led by the Chairwoman, Ms. Ha Thi Thu Thanh. She is greatly respected for her leadership, great kindness, and warm heart. She looks after us and teaches us about work, life and how to “be yourself.” She’s become our role model and has given me a lot of motivation to overcome difficulties and develop to become a better version of myself.
How has Deloitte invested in you as a leader, helping you grow?
Deloitte regularly organizes training programs to increase our firm’s professional knowledge. But the most important investment Deloitte has made in me so far is the opportunity to participate in the Lighting Up Your Future program, of which I am the coordinator. Through this role, I’ve not only grown as a person but also as a leader, helping young students who are in similar situations and showing them that every person has the courage to overcome difficulties to achieve great things.
How do you feel that you have been able to make an impact while working at Deloitte?
Working for Deloitte Vietnam is a dream come true. I’m proud of being a “Deloitter” and really happy to make an impact and contribute to the development of Deloitte. I really appreciate every opportunity Deloitte Vietnam has brought to me and will try my best to create a positive impact for other people.
