Life at Deloitte
San San Lee | United States
Tell us about your career path at Deloitte (How long have you worked for Deloitte, how has your career evolved?)
As a sixteen-year veteran of Deloitte US, my career path has transformed from being a member of the Regional Design team to the National Consulting Pursuit Design team and now the Global Audit Design team.
What will stand out for you as the greatest benefit of working for Deloitte?
It has to be Deloitte’s global footprint, which enables me to meet interesting people and travel to various counties both for work and leisure.
What is it about working for Deloitte that inspires you the most?
It has always been the people who inspire me. Working for Deloitte US helps me understand the essence of teamwork: we work and win together as a team, not as individuals.
How has Deloitte invested in you as a leader, helping you grow?
For me, the experience is more organic. We are asked to take on leadership roles within our function and local community. I have gained leadership skills from being the lead for various office initiatives, as well as for Deloitte US’s Impact Day. On top of the regular business and professional development trainings, it is learning from each other every day.
List your proudest professional and personal achievements.
I have always wanted to work on a pursuit in Asia and I am proud to have worked with five designers to deliver a 2000+ page proposal in Chinese and English.
My biggest personal achievement is singing Handel’s Messiah with Boston’s biggest community choir, which has been one of my life-long dreams.
What is one thing that people might be surprised to learn about you?
In addition to my love of sports, and playing tennis and volleyball, I also belong to a community choir. I love when people say “Wow, I did not know you sing!” after I tell them I will be singing Beethoven’s No.9 Symphony this summer.
Where do you see your career going in the next 5 years? 10?
I am always interested in our Diversity & Inclusion, Greenhouse Lab and Corporate Sustainability programs and hopefully I will continue my journey with one of the groups.
