Tell us about your career path at Deloitte (How long have you worked for Deloitte, how has your career evolved?)
I’ve been with Deloitte CBC just under four years, initially working in Clients & Industries in the Trinidad office. I then transitioned to CBC Communications, where I’ve been since. This role has enabled me to channel existing strengths, and leverage my knowledge and experiences, but also to continue my professional development in a creative and supportive environment.
What has been your favorite part of working for Deloitte?
The sheer diversity of people and cultures is incredible. I love being able to network with professionals around the world and share in their different stories and experiences. Being able to participate in training workshops abroad has enhanced that interest and connectivity.
What will stand out for you as the greatest benefit of working for Deloitte?
Professionally, it’s the satisfaction of being part of the global network—knowing that we each contribute and make a difference. On a more personal note, Deloitte CBC has provided avenues for my career development that I would never have predicted. There have been some circumstances that were initially challenging, but I’ve learned a great deal and I now embrace these facets of my role with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
What is it about working for Deloitte that inspires you the most?
The idea that each of us can make an impact, no matter the size. Whether it involves community initiatives or something on a simpler or more personal level like assisting a colleague, it’s the constant opportunity and ability to give of ourselves that inspires us to reach out, to go beyond the norm, to share who we are—or how we’ve grown—and how we can help others.
How has Deloitte invested in you as a leader, helping you grow?
The incomparable variety of learning and training options ensures that there are development opportunities for everyone at Deloitte CBC. I have been able to directly benefit from several of these during my time thus far and they have been key in my overall growth.
How do you feel that you have been able to make an impact while working at Deloitte?
IMPACT Day and other firm community initiatives have allowed me to give more of myself by contributing to helping others. Our recent IMPACT Day involved work with a children’s home and it was a great joy to be able to interact with the children and staff in multiple areas—from building a kitchen garden to staff training, youth guidance and fun day activities.
What is one thing that people might be surprised to learn about you?
I’m fascinated (probably to the point of obsessed) with history, archaeology and mythology. When I was 14, my secret ambition was to be an archaeologist or anthropologist.
