Global CSO for Risk Advisory | Chief Strategy Officer , Deloitte UK
Marcus Boyle is the Chief Strategy Officer for Deloitte UK, Global CSO for the Risk Advisory and a Board member for Deloitte Central Europe.
Deloitte has over 10,000 staff in the UK and is a c.£3bn business. He was previously the Deputy CEO for the Consulting Business and sat on the Consulting Board. The Consulting business became the market leader during his tenure. He is now responsible for the entire strategy development, investment decision making, and acquisition programme for the Firm.
Marcus obtained an Upper Second Degree in Economics and Business Economics at Southampton University. He joined Arthur Andersen in 1986 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He transferred to the Consulting Division in London where he became one of the Firm’s youngest ever Partners. He joined Deloitte as a Partner in 2002.
Marcus is one of Deloitte’s most senior Partners and has over 30 years of consulting experience. He works with the Firm’s most significant clients on their scale engagements. These are generally major change initiatives requiring him to work with main Board Directors and senior leadership teams to drive change in their operations. Some recent examples include the merger of two media organizations to create a global market leader, restructuring a FTSE100 global organization, reviewing the structure of a FTSE100 business, numerous operational reviews, and working with a global bank on their international strategy. He is currently leading a number of major assignments at one of the world’s largest banks.
Marcus also has a significant role in the non-profit sector. He is a Trustee of the Serpentine Gallery in London. He works closely with the Director of the Gallery. He is Chairman of British American Drama Academy, a charity that teaches American students British theatre. He sits on various committees at the Historic Royal Palaces. He has worked with a number of charities on operational reviews and improvement plans. For example, he was integral to the initiation and agreement of the merger of ChildLine and the NSPCC.
He has also been the Partner responsible for all of Deloitte Consulting’s charitable and community programmes and been the UK representative on the Global Community Investment Board. In his role as Consulting’s Community Investment Partner he has created a far-reaching programme that raises money, places staff into charities on a pro-bono basis, and undertakes community programmes (such as community mentoring, school reading, employability etc). Marcus has received awards for his vision and drive of the programme.
He continues to be an active sportsman and has four children. He enjoys a number of pursuits such as playing football, skiing, piano and beekeeping.
