This course explores the legal implications of the interaction between Smart Contracts and Artificial Intelligence Systems. It covers the features and applications of both technologies, their interaction through 'oracles', and the legal concerns posed for transactions.
The course introduces participants to the interaction of two novel technological breakthroughs, Smart Contracts and Artificial Intelligence Systems, from a legal point of view. Both have already had a significant impact on various aspects of modern life, including transactions, while their interaction is expected to further benefit them. The course presents the most important features and applications of smart contracts and artificial intelligence systems, examines the interaction between them that take place through specific mechanisms called ‘oracles’ and analyses the most important legal concerns this interconnection poses for transactions.
Law practitioners of any level are welcome to this course.

The Course’s agenda is consisted of the following sections:

-          What is a Smart Contract (legal and technical definition)? – Examples

-          What is an autonomous Artificial Intelligence system, i.e. autonomous machine (core features and applications)?

-          Oracles: the interaction mechanism – possible applications of AI oracles to Smart Contracts

-          Legal concerns raised by the ‘oracle problem’ and their addressing within the existing legal framework
