CEE Insurance M&A Study 2021

We are happy to hereby release the 4th edition of our CEE insurance M&A study

In comparison with the previous record-breaking-years, in 2021 the M&A activity on the insurance market calmed down in the Central and Eastern Europe. Despite the lower number of closed transactions, the dynamics on the insurance M&A market remained unchanged. Large international groups decided to reconsider their regional strategy and leave those markets behind where they failed to achieve economies of scales, focusing rather on those where they had strong market positions with greater potential to grow. However, their exit provided the opportunity for dominant players to continue strengthening their position through further market consolidation.
