Our carbon reduction goals

Climate change is one of the greatest environmental challenges facing the world and requires action. Business has a vital role to play in the transition to a low carbon society, with that in mind, Deloitte is committed to reducing its carbon emissions.

Net Zero by 2030

In 2020, we launched our global strategy WorldClimate to drive responsible climate choices within our organization and beyond. This is one of the ways in which we are bringing our firm’s purpose to life and making an impact that matters to become net zero by 2030.

Will achieve this by taking the following actions:

  • 100% of our owned vehicle fleet will be electric or plug-in hybrid by 2030
  • 100% of the electricity used across our estate will be produced from renewable sources by 2030
  • 50% per FTE reduction in business travel emissions by 2030
  • 67% of our global supply chain (by emissions) will set science-based targets by 2025
  • Invest in meaningful carbon offsets to compensate for residual operational and value chain emission

Our GHG reduction goals have been Developed in line with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5 degrees Celsius scenario and have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Business in the Community Ireland’s Low Carbon Pledge

Business in the Community Ireland is supporting Ireland’s business sector in the transition to a low carbon economy with the Low Carbon Pledge – the first dedicated pledge generated by Irish business to set industry standards on sustainability and reduce carbon usage.

Initially launched in 2018 the pledge was enhanced in 2021. Deloitte Ireland renewed its commitment to the enhanced Pledge which asks signatory companies to commit to set science- based carbon emissions reduction targets by 2024, which must include their entire carbon footprint (Scope 1, 2 & 3) and be in line with the Paris Agreement and the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) findings.
