Deloitte Ireland named Ireland’s top M&A Financial Adviser of the Year 2017

13 December 2017

Deloitte Ireland has been named Ireland's M&A Financial Adviser of the Year by Mergermarket at the European M&A Awards 2017. The prestigious awards gather senior dealmakers from across Europe to recognise outstanding contributions to M&A advisory in the region.

Mergermarket is a leading global business deal data intelligence provider. The shortlist for the awards is based on an analysis of Mergermarket’s market-leading league tables and the winners are chosen by a rigorous judging from a panel of experts.

Commenting on the win, Anya Cummins, Partner and Head of M&A, Deloitte Corporate Finance said: “We are delighted to receive this award, which is a reflection of the level of transaction activity we’ve been involved in over the last 12 months. The last year has been particularly busy for us and our multidisciplinary team has lead a number of high profile and complex domestic and international transactions."

“The corporate finance team here at Deloitte is going from strength to strength. This awards recognises the volume and nature of the transactions we have successfully closed this year. As we move towards 2018, the pipeline of transactions remains very strong and we’re confident of strong activity levels in FY18.”

The Deloitte M&A team has been involved in a broad spectrum of transactions this year, including acquisitions, disposals and equity capital raisings. These have included acting as lead advisor to Voxpro on the high profile transaction with Telus International earlier this year, advising One51 on the $150m acquisition of Macro Plastics in the US and advising Sovereign Capital on its investment in Irish insurance broker Arachas.

“The current level of activity is a reflection of the mindset of Irish companies. There is an increased focus on international expansion, a desire to achieve scale via strategic transactions as well as preparing to capitalise on new opportunities and emerging markets as a result of Brexit. We are also seeing particularly strong activity levels from private equity which is driving deal volume, as well as shareholders more actively preparing for exit well in advance of any transaction. We expect these factors to intensify in 2018, and look forward to supporting our clients in this regard,” concluded Cummins.
