Deloitte Cork hosts networking event to mark International Women’s Day

Cork business women gather to ‘Inspire Change’

Over 50 of Cork’s leading businesswomen gathered at a networking event, hosted by Deloitte, the leading business advisory firm, to mark International Women’s Day on Thursday 6 March.

The event also supported Dress for Success Cork, a volunteer-led organisation which helps women of all ages and backgrounds, who find themselves in challenging financial circumstances, to achieve economic independence.

They provide a range of support and developmental tools to job seekers assisting them to be interview ready and supporting them through the initial process of getting themselves back into the workforce.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is to ‘Inspire Change’. To encourage guests at the event to do their part in inspiring change, guests were asked to donate business attire items such as suits, separates, shoes, bags, scarves or coats to this worthy cause.

Honor Moore, Partner, Deloitte Cork, commented: “We can all appreciate how busy our schedules can become, leaving little time for catching up with our counterparts but more so to discuss the challenges that women are faced with today.  Deloitte is taking the opportunity of International Women’s Day to do just that.  We are delighted to support the Dress for Success initiative which offers women innovative and practical help to get back into the workforce and we are pleased to help out in any way that we can.”

Carmel O’Keeffe, Executive Director and Founder of Dress for Success also commented: “We are very pleased to join Deloitte at this event.  Many thanks to Deloitte and of course the guests this evening for their generous contributions. The women that we work with really benefit from the increased confidence they get from knowing that they are fully prepared for an interview situation. This really makes a difference.”

The event took place at Jacques restaurant. Over 50 women from the business community in Cork attended. In addition to Carmel O’Keeffe, guests also heard from Marie O’Shea, stylist with Brown Thomas Cork.
