A number of international Deloitte events will add important support to the Gathering and bring 600 people to Ireland in 2013

22 March 2013 - Deloitte, the leading business advisory firm, is pleased to announce that in the year of the Gathering it will be hosting a number of important events that will bring over 600 international colleagues to Ireland. It is anticipated that delegates will stay a minimum of two nights each, with additional benefits for the hospitality industry as a percentage of delegates are likely to extend their stay for leisure and recreation purposes.

The events, which bring together international Deloitte colleagues from across the business, are held in different locations each year. In support of the Gathering, Deloitte Ireland tendered for a number of these events in order to host as many international events as possible in 2013.

Welcoming the announcement, Minister of State for Tourism & Sport Michael Ring said:

“It’s great that these corporate events have been secured for Ireland as part of the Gathering. I’m delighted to see that global companies based here in Ireland, like Deloitte, are embracing the concept of the Gathering and inviting their own overseas networks to visit Ireland this year. Business tourism is lucrative for Ireland with Fáilte Ireland research indicating it’s worth up to €500 million to the Irish economy.”

Brendan Jennings, Managing Partner, Deloitte commented:

“We are delighted that Deloitte Ireland can support the Gathering by bringing so many of our global events to Dublin this year. We faced stiff competition from other member firms across the globe, but came out on top as the firm put forward a compelling case for Ireland as a premier location to do business, while offering many attractive benefits from a tourist perspective also. While these events are important for colleagues to catch up with their international counterparts and keep abreast of strategic developments within their particular industry, we will also be ensuring that the delegates experience the very best of Irish hospitality and culture.”

The events are across a number of areas including Enterprise Risk Services, Public Sector, Technology, Investment Management, Regulation and Financial Restructuring, amongst others. The first event takes place in March when Enterprise Risk Services country leaders from across Deloitte member firms will meet in Dublin. The last event in the series of international conferences will take place in October. June is a particularly busy month for international Deloitte events, with five events taking place.
