Deloitte strengthens M&A team as Jan Fitzell joins as partner
April 3 2018
Deloitte is pleased to announce the appointment of Jan Fitzell as a partner in its M&A team. In this role Jan will jointly lead the firm’s M&A Services offering, using his extensive experience in advising companies on their acquisition, disposal and capital raising strategies.
Prior to joining Deloitte, Jan was a Director with IBI Corporate Finance, where he worked for 14 years. Jan advises businesses across sectors and has advised some of Ireland’s leading mid-market companies, helping them to unlock value and achieve their growth objectives. Transactions he has acted on include Dawn Meats’ acquisition of an equity stake in French beef processor Elivia, the disposal of Abtran to Cardinal Carlyle Ireland, the disposal of Inver Energy to Greenergy, the acquisition of La Rousse Foods by Aryzta and the subsequent acquisition of the company by Musgrave Group from Aryzta.
Jan is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland. He holds a first class Masters in Accounting from UCD and a first class Bachelor of Business Studies degree from Trinity College Dublin.
Martin Reilly, Head of Corporate Finance at Deloitte, commented: “Jan is a fantastic addition to our M&A team which has been growing steadily under the leadership of Anya Cummins over the past two years. There are a number of factors driving the growth of the team – as M&A levels continue at high levels, the emergence of private equity, both domestic and inbound, has been a significant factor in driving successful transactions. In addition, the mid-market is particularly active, as strong private Irish businesses become increasingly attractive to investors. At Deloitte, our goal is to ensure we continue to have the capability and expertise to serve our clients in this landscape and Jan will play an important role in this regard.”
Jan Fitzell commented: “I am thrilled to be joining the M&A team at Deloitte. As the M&A landscape has rebounded over the last number of years, they have demonstrated that they have the market knowledge and ability to deliver successful outcomes for their clients in a competitive market. I’m looking forward to working with the team and having a positive impact on our clients as they look to grow and progress their businesses.”
Deloitte was named Ireland M&A Financial Adviser of the Year by Mergermarket at the European M&A Awards 2017. Over the past year, the team has been involved in a broad spectrum of transactions, including acquisitions, disposals and equity capital raisings. These have included acting as lead advisor to Voxpro on the high profile transaction with Telus International, advising One51 on the $150m acquisition of Macro Plastics in the US and advising Sovereign Capital on its investment in Irish insurance broker Arachas. Most recently, Deloitte acted as lead corporate finance and debt advisors to the shareholders of Lowe Rental Limited on the c.£60 million investment by Perwyn in the business.
