Five new partners at Deloitte

Deloitte, the leading business advisory firm, is pleased to announce the appointment of five new partners - Pieter Burger in Financial Services Tax; Gerard Casey in the regional audit practice; John Doddy in the Corporate Finance department; Eimear McCarthy in Financial Services Audit; and Emer O’Shaughnessy in Consumer Business Audit. Previously directors with the firm, the new partners will become part of the firm’s senior leadership team, responsible for delivering the highest levels of client service.

Pieter Burger
Pieter is a partner in the firm’s tax practice and a member of the firm’s financial services industry group. He has over 11 years’ experience providing tax advice on a wide range of Irish domestic and international corporation tax matters including establishment of aircraft leasing and treasury operations in Ireland, cash pooling, cross border financing arrangements, banking, securitisation, cross border M&A tax advisory, Initial Public Offerings, as well as tax advice on hedging and various types of derivative and structured financial products.

Pieter trained and qualified as a lawyer and holds Bachelor of Commerce degrees in Law and Financial Management, and a Masters of Commerce degree in Taxation. He is also an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute.

Gerard Casey
Gerard is an audit partner based in the firm’s regional practice. He has 13 years’ experience serving multinational, Irish listed and Irish indigenous entities. He has a particular focus in the food and beverage, technology, and exploration and mining sectors. He has significant experience in a range of financial reporting frameworks including IFRS, Irish GAAP and US GAAP. 

Gerard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Accounting from University of Limerick and is a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland. He holds a Professional Diploma in Financial Advice from the Institute of Banking.

John Doddy
John is a partner in the Corporate Finance department, specialising in debt advisory. Prior to joining Deloitte in 2010 John spent fourteen years in banking and financial services. He has extensive experience in arranging and structuring senior and subordinated debt funding. Since joining Deloitte John has acted as company side advisor on a significant number of capital raisings and refinancings for corporate and real estate transactions.

John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Politics from Trinity College Dublin, and is a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland and the Irish Association of Corporate Treasurers. 

Eimear McCarthy
Eimear is an audit partner, working in the financial services industry group at Deloitte. She joined the firm in 2002 and has over 10 years’ experience specialising in the provision of assurance and advisory services to clients in the insurance sector. Eimear has wide ranging experience in risk, accounting, advisory and audit services and her breadth of experience has been developed from working with both Irish domiciled companies as well as large multinational insurance entities.

Eimear holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Cork, and is a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Emer O’Shaughnessy
Emer is a partner in the audit practice, providing audit and assurance services to listed entities, public interest entities and large corporate clients. She has over 12 years’ experience in dealing with engagements of multinational and indigenous clients reporting under Irish GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP. Emer’s experience spans industries including food and beverage, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and life sciences, technology and telecommunications.

Emer holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Masters of Accounting degree from National University of Ireland, Galway and is a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland.
