When did you decide to leave Ireland?
March 2014

Where did you emigrate to and for how long were you gone?

San Francisco for 2 years from 2014-2016

What made you decide to come back?

Family..we went from having 2 kids to expecting another 2!

How did your current role come about?

I worked for Deloitte Consulting in Dublin for 9 years between 2004 and 2013 and really loved my time there. Thus, in the back of my mind I was always keen on coming back to Deloitte. I heard about the customer and digital team expanding in Dublin and I was very keen to get involved.

What work do you do?

In the Customer and Digital team I assist clients design, deliver and manage business transformations with a specific focus customer, digital, and channel management. I also support and advise clients across the whole range of operational transformation challenges including, process transformation, and embedding a culture and tools to enable effective continuous improvement.

What do you like most about your job?

For me personally I love being constantly challenged to develop new skills and being surrounded by inspiring leaders at all levels from our analyst’s right up to the partners. I am also grateful to have the opportunity to work with great people who want to work as a team. The opportunity to help our clients solve some of their most complex problems and ensure successful implementation is very exciting and impactful.

How did Deloitte make it easier for you to move back?

How did your time working abroad make you better suited for your job?

San Francisco is a centre of innovation and being immersed in it opened up my eyes to innovation and technology. I led a large scale technology implementation project which provided me with a new skill set. I was also given the opportunity to manage a large number of consultants which really developed my people management skills. The US consultancy company I worked for had a very impressive people culture. I am now part of the talent leadership team in consulting and excited to share and implement some of my insights and experience.

What is the best thing about being back in Ireland?

Family, friends, the Irish craic, and the incredible outdoorsy lifestyle. On the weekends we have been having some great family trips to Powerscourt, Glendalough and Kilruddery. It is super to have these amazing adventures right on our doorstep.

What do you enjoy about working in Deloitte?

The people I get to work with day to day are what make my job great. The professional and leadership opportunities as well as career advancement that I have benefited from through Deloitte is something to be grateful for.
