Life at Deloitte

Hear from...

Jerry Lucey, Graduate in Risk Advisory

The people in Deloitte are extremely friendly and there is culture here that there is no such thing as a stupid question. It is a great company and will help you develop both professionally and personally.

What I like most about my role?

Every job is different in the Risk Advisory. You get to see the processes of a number of clients both public and private.

What attracted me to Deloitte?

Since second year in college I had an interest in Deloitte. Their graduate recruitment was very interesting and at the time they were Ireland’s leading recruiter of graduates.

What I didn’t know but wish I knew before joining!

I wish I had known about the amount of travelling that is involved. It was quite a shock at the beginning when I was travelling to different parts of Ireland and Europe but exciting.

My day-to-day role

My day to day role consists of carrying out internal audit reviews in various clients. I perform walkthroughs of their processes to determine what controls they have in place and then test these same controls to ensure that they are working appropriately. I will then discuss any issues that have arisen with the client and issue a report for the Partner review before it is sent to the client.

How I have been able to make an impact in my role?

I have gained experience throughout my two years working in Deloitte and feel that now I am more confident in what I’m doing.

What else I have been involved with since joining?

I have been involved in training certain members of our department on our new internal audit tool. I have also taken part in Impact Day.

What I have enjoyed most?

The people in Deloitte are extremely friendly and there is culture here that there is no such thing as a stupid question. It is a great company and will help you develop both professionally and personally.
