What did you study in college?

I studied Business and Spanish in Trinity College Dublin.

Why did you choose the Deloitte Graduate Programme?

Any interaction I had with Deloitte previous to applying for the graduate programme was always positive - whether it was talking to brand ambassadors on campus, going to information evenings and talks or talking to people who were already in the company. I always wanted to work in a positive environment so that was the biggest push for me to apply.

The relationships I have built since joining have allowed me to enjoy the work I am doing, feel supported and created a great environment for me to come into every day.

What did you find most challenging about the working world?

The most challenging thing I found about the working world was definitely trying out new things that I never thought I would be interested in before.

For example, I never thought I’d be working in the technology space and here I am. It was definitely challenging to adjust to certain streams of work, but support was always there and the reward of getting through challenges is far greater than the reward of getting through what’s easy.

How has Deloitte helped you build your career?

In terms of building my career, Deloitte has provided me with invaluable training that really aids my everyday job and also increases my qualifications. Aside from the fantastic trainings I am also provided with an appraiser who acts almost as a mentor and is there to help me with any issue I might have and to also guide me along the path I want to follow as my career progresses.

What is the most valuable thing you have learned since you joined the workforce?

The most valuable thing I learned since joining the workforce is the importance of relationships and the strategy behind building them effectively, whether it’s with your colleagues or clients.

Strong relationships built on trust at the end of the day are what is valued the most. The relationships I have built since joining have allowed me to enjoy the work I am doing, feel supported and created a great environment for me to come into every day.

What’s one thing you wish you knew when you finished college?

When I finished College, I didn’t know what to expect as I entered the next stage of my life. I’m sure a lot of people can relate to the fact that it can be a worrying time as you step out of the comfort zone that was College.

I wish I knew that everything would turn out okay- no matter what path I chose and that working life, contradictory to my prior beliefs, can actually be very enjoyable!
