A Career in Audit & Advisory
"No job or no day is the same in Audit & Advisory. You are constantly improving and learning new things every day" Caroline Brown, Audit & Advisory Trainee.
Our global Audit & Advisory approach is applied consistently around the world, while providing the flexibility to serve the unique needs of our clients. Starting your career in Audit & Advisory you will have the opportunity to gain insights into the business operations of industries including financial services, consumer business, technology, media and telecommunications. The Deloitte audit goes beyond testing transactions and balances to providing insights that help our clients better understand their business.
So what’s the work like?
Auditing is a highly complex process, and the importance of auditors as a vital link in the financial reporting chain has never been more important nor their role as trusted advisors more valued. It’s our Audit & Advisory team’s job to gain a thorough appreciation of every aspect of a client’s business which makes working in Audit & Advisory hugely varied, challenging and rewarding.
Every audit is an adventure, because you never know what you’re going to find. As a trainee you will work on a succession of audits throughout the year both in the office and offsite at the clients’ premises analysing their accounts, finding out what they’ve done and why, pointing out any problems and making recommendations. And because an audit is generally carried out over a matter of weeks, you’ll move from client to client, gaining knowledge and experience across a broad spectrum of businesses as you go.
You will work with experienced teams focusing on financial statement components, reviewing client operations and controls, identifying weakness and providing recommendations. Our computerised audit software along with our risk based audit approach helps our professionals deliver service excellence that is implicit in the Deloitte brand and that the financial community and public expect.
Learn and Grow
We invest heavily in ensuring your on-boarding experience provides you the knowledge and skills that you need to begin your journey with us.
The Audit & Advisory induction programme is your start to a successful career in Audit & Advisory guiding you through the challenges and opportunities of your first few months at Deloitte. It allows you to become familiar with our culture, values and business principles. We will outline our expectations of you and discuss your expectations of us! We know that you might be wondering what your job entails, how an audit works, what you are going to be doing and lots more questions.
At the end of your induction programme all of these questions will be answered and you will be ready to start on your first assignment. It provides exciting opportunities to innovate, collaborate and grow. You will participate in the “The Audit & Advisory Experience” where you will embark on your first audit engagement. This programme is a “real life” simulation of an audit.
Your First Day
You will meet with your “Buddy” who will be able to help you settle into life in a professional office environment, introduce you to your team, answer any questions you may have and assist in ensuring your smooth transition into Deloitte life.
On completion of your two week induction programme you will gain hands on experience on the job. You will receive continuous coaching and guidance throughout this time. To further enhance your learning you will then return to our designated Learning Academy where you will attend a week long “Professional Education and Personal Development week”.
