The world's biggest Blockchain returned to Dublin
150 Blockchain enthusiasts gathered in DCU Alpha Innovation Campus for 50 hours of hacking.
The 4th-6th of November saw the second episode of the Blockchain Hackathon return to Dublin. 150 hackers travelled from around the world to compete for blockchain gold. Deloitte were delighted to sponsor the event for the second year running.
The participants spent the weekend developing innovative blockchain solutions from whiskey cask flavour tracking to weather insurance applications. The winning team comprimised of 4 Deloitte employees ; Kevin Murray (Intern), Jake MccGwire (Intern), Jean Luc Verhelst (Grid Blockchain Hub Consultant), Lucas Henning (Deloitte Germany Consultant).
The team's idea was TicketChain - an application that aims to revolutionize the way consumers purchase tickets-Both B2C and P2P.
Both Jake and Kevin (pictured to the right with EMEA Grid Blockchain Hub sponsor David Dalton) took an interest in Blockchain during their internships & attended the first Deloitte Ireland internal blockchain meet-up.
The event's success is testament to the ever growing global blockchain community and also the widespread interest and adoption of the technology here in Ireland.
