Understanding the impact of Covid-19 on Higher Education Institutions 

The Covid-19 pandemic has challenged leaders to stabilise amid crisis and prepare for an uncertain future. We believe that like any crisis, this will play out for the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) over three stages: Respond, Recover and Thrive.

As HEIs move into the recover phase, they are now devising plans to re-open and to deliver programmes of study for the next academic year. The emerging risks pose significant challenges to the Higher Education (HE) sector where social distancing will be applied in a community that would normally have thousands (students and staff) on campus daily. Looking towards September 2020, the plans that HEIs put in place now will determine how HEIs will recover and critically thrive in the future.
