Why FinTech Collaboration with Financial Services can drive job creation in Ireland

Over the last decade, advances in technology have had a dramatic effect on the Financial Services industry, the participants and services offerings. Technology and its application across financial services, often referred to as FinTech, is continuing to drive change across the industry.

Traditional financial services businesses are faced with new challenges as emerging innovative ideas change how businesses and individuals conduct financial transactions.

As part of the new IFS Strategy 2020, announced by the Minister in March 2015, a major focus is being placed on driving additional employment in financial technology (FinTech) companies by encouraging collaboration between Ireland’s IT and Financial Services sectors.

However, FS firms are struggling to update legacy platforms and supporting IT architectures which in turn are hampering their ability to adapt, grow and innovate.
