Prudential Regulation Review June 2019

Prudential Regulatory Review is a monthly newsletter dedicated to summarising all major risk and regulatory updates.

Prudential Regulation Review - latest edition

June was a month for regulatory reflection - on the progress that has been made in transforming the financial sector since the financial crisis - and on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

The transition from LIBOR also received considerable focus in June. European Regulatory Bodies also identified key themes, good practice and next steps following the feedback they received regarding firms’ preparations to manage the transition.

Derville Rowland, (Director General, Financial Conduct) spoke at the joint ESAs Consumer Protection Day 2019, hosted by the Central Bank of Ireland, and gave insights on the Central Bank’ strong support for enhanced supervisory convergence across Europe.

On the Prudential side, two new consultation papers have been issued: Consultation on draft RTS on liquidity horizons for the IMA and the Consultation on draft RTS on back-testing and profit and loss attribution (PLA) requirements under Capital Requirements Regulation 2 (CRR2). The SRB’s MREL policy has also been updated to reflect the new CRR2.

Other topics covered include:

  • Banking
  • Capital Markets
  • Central Bank of Ireland
