Commenting on the planned reduction in VAT rates for the tourism and hospitality sector, Vincent McCullagh (tax partner in Deloitte) noted:
The increases in carbon taxes announced by the Minister in his speech have come as no surprise to spectators, who have speculated in advance that such increases were on the horizon. The increases in carbon taxes are in line with Government policy focusing on the Green Agenda, an area where we will continue to see further policy developments in the future.
