VAT reductions for tourism and hospitality sectors welcomed
Commenting on the planned reduction in VAT rates for the tourism and hospitality sector, Vincent McCullagh (tax partner in Deloitte) noted:
The announcement of a reduction in the rate of VAT from 13.5% to 9% for the tourism and hospitality sector will be a welcome development for those businesses that have experienced significant downturns as a result of COVID19 restrictions. The reduced rate will run to December 2021, to give affected businesses the greatest chance of reaping the benefits of the measure. We would welcome this reduction in the rate of VAT for such badly affected sectors.
