Ireland (10 May 2022) – Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment’s (DETE) next review of the Occupations Lists for Employment Permits
IMPACT – MEDIUM
What is the update?
The DETE announced on the 12 April 2022, that they will launch their next review of the Occupations list in quarter 2 this year.
The DETE will review the Critical Skills and the Ineligible Occupations lists to see if the current labour market warrants any changes to be made. Roles can be added or removed to the lists as a result of the reviews. Quotas on roles can also be amended as a result of the review.
Key points:
- Implementation time frame:
The review will be launched in Quarter 2 of 2022.
- Who is affected:
In advance of the review of the Occupations lists, the DETE gives the opportunity for representative bodies, Government Departments, Agencies, and other interested parties to make Public Consultation Submissions.
These submissions can highlight any gaps that a business may face in the current labour market when hiring certain talent for certain roles.
These submissions may be a suitable platform for businesses to highlight any shortage of labour for occupations in their sector.
Analysis & Comments:
Our dedicated immigration team at Deloitte will be able to keep clients updated once the submissions forms have been released by the DETE.
If you think your company would benefit from making a submission, please let us know and we will be happy to assist.
