Over 130 B-schools take on Deloitte’s ‘Maverick’ Challenge in season V
Campus Maverick 2016
More than 15,000 management students to participate in the pan-India campus-corporate connect programme
Mumbai, 16 August 2016: Deloitte, a large professional services organization, has launched Season V of ‘Maverick’, its signature industry-academia connect programme. A popular event in B-schools across India, the programme connects with students from various campuses using an engaging business simulation format. This year over 15,000 students have registered to participate in Maverick.
“In a dynamic, fast-paced and competitive business environment, the drivers for success continues to be education, business acumen and strong leadership. With the expanded scope of Maverick Season V, we are looking to address these very requirements in the millennial workforce, provide them an insight into what it takes to be successful in the corporate world, tap into the talent pool and truly leverage their potential.” said S.V. Nathan, Chief Talent Officer and Partner in Deloitte Shared Services India LLP.
“Maverick, by design nurtures and promotes a deeper industry-academia connect and helps students hone their skills and client service capabilities.” said Bruce Stewart, Principal, Deloitte LLP.
“Given how millennials are radical-thinkers seeking constant opportunities, onboarding some of the brightest minds adds to the delivery capabilities of our firm and strengthens our position in the evolving marketplace amidst emerging client requirements.” he added.
As per Deloitte’s annual millennial survey for 2016, millennials in India, cite opportunities to progress and lead as the strongest reasons (apart from salary) when choosing an organization to work for, and Maverick helps provide them with these opportunities, on campus. Maverick is focused on inspiring unconventional thinking, a solutions mindset, leadership behaviors and client service competencies among the future workforce, and help skill India by preparing students for the challenges of a rapidly evolving business world. Held in a multi-stage elimination format, participants are challenged to experience the life of a consultant in a global professional services organization and demonstrate new-age competencies that define success in the corporate world, thereby helping them become life-ready and career-ready for India Inc.
This year, the regional qualifiers for the Maverick programme are being held across North, South, East and West of India–and the top teams from each of the regions will compete for the Maverick 2016 title at the grand finale in Deloitte’s Hyderabad office on 16 September 2016.
Apart from the main business solutions challenge, three additional competitions are held on the sidelines of Maverick to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents. The ‘War of Bands’ is held for music bands in the campuses to compete against each other, and win a chance to play at the regional rounds and at the grand finale. ‘Be the One’ is a unique contest where students are encouraged to send in their personal story of successes/ achievements that helped shape them into the person they are. Selected contestants stand a chance to share their stories during the regional rounds and win prizes. ‘Roll the Reel’ is the third contest that is aimed at providing students with the opportunity to unleash their creative skills leveraging videos and new-age motion graphics. Winning entries will be played at the regional rounds and at the grand finale.
