Post budget analysis of the union budget

February 2021

The finance minister had promised to deliver a ‘budget like never before" and she presented a well-balanced budget with an equal emphasis on growth and social objectives. Although the primary focus was on fiscal push and infrastructure, it is heartening to see that the government also addressed all our seven pre-budget expectations—the seven-league boot that India needs to rebound strongly.

This budget is a testimony of the government’s determination to do whatever it takes to revive the economy. However, it is walking a tightrope balancing growth and fiscal concerns as the government will likely face challenges funding its expenses and mobilising resources. Effective implementation of the budgetary allocation will determine the strength and pace of the sustainable economic recovery.
