GRI launches G4 XBRL Reports Program
Deloitte developed the GRI Taxonomy in collaboration with GRI
Recently Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) launched the ‘G4 XBRL Reports Program’ to encourage G4 reporters to publish their sustainability reports in an electronic format that can be consumed easily by data aggregators, investors, and other stakeholders.
G4 XBRL reporting improves the accuracy of the sustainability information used by investors and analysts and improves the integrity and consistency of the company’s various reports to different stakeholders. Deloitte has been involved in GRI’s transition to digital reporting since 2012 and developed the GRI Taxonomy in collaboration with GRI. Last November, Deloitte Netherlands hosted the G4 local launch and the global launch of the GRI Taxonomy 2013 in Rotterdam. Currently Deloitte is continuing the cooperation with GRI to jointly promote the "G4 XBRL Reports Program."
Under the G4 XBRL Reports Program, a company’s G4 XBRL report will be accessible on GRI’s website and GRI will promote the G4 XBRL reports by releasing an article summarizing the experiences of the participating organizations. The program offers participating companies a great opportunity to showcase their leadership in sustainability reporting. A number of companies have already signed up and the first XBRL reports are being prepared.
