Service Tax in India

A Handbook

Service tax has assumed significance in recent years as one of the major contributors to the Government exchequer. The law has expanded its reach to cover most transactions of services and now pervades all sectors of the economy. As the law has matured over the years, the enforcement has become stricter. Several provisions relating to offences and penalties have recently been introduced in the law which warrants a higher degree of attention towards compliance.

Gather a detailed perspective

The large number of changes in the law and introduction of new rules for taxation of services necessitate a guide that gives a bird’s eye view of all relevant provisions of service tax law. This publication is an attempt to be facilitator and a reference guide to the current law. The provisions reproduced in this publication are current as on 30th November 2013.
