Technology Fast 500™ Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA)
2015 Winners and Results
Combining technological innovation, entrepreneurship and rapid growth, Technology Fast 500 companies — large, small, public, and private — span a variety of industry sectors, and are transforming the way business is done today.
The Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA is now in its fifteenth year, and it includes over 20 countries including Belgium, the Netherlands, Finland, Italy, UK, France, Germany and Turkey.
Catawiki secured first place in the 2015 Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Europe, Middle East & Africa program. Catawiki is Europe’s fastest-growing online auction house for special items headquartered in the Netherlands. In 2008, René Schoenmakers (CEO) and Marco Jansen (CTO) founded the company as a community for collectors, and with the help of funding from Accel Partners and Lead Edge Capital, it has become the largest online destination for buying and selling special objects. Since 2011, Catawiki has been hosting weekly auctions in 80 categories, from classic cars to vintage watches, from whisky to coins, from art to jewellery.
Ranked number two, iZettle has been transforming the credit card payment industry across Europe since 2010. The Stockholm-based company, founded by entrepreneurial duo Jacob De Geer and Magnus Nilsson, has developed the first credit card chip-reader that connects directly to smartphones and tablets – for a fraction of the cost of the till-based systems provided by banks. Even better: Subscribers receive free card machines, state-of-the-art financial management software and transparent pay-as-you-go pricing. It’s no wonder iZettle is now the largest mobile payment provider in Europe and Latin America and has just launched iZettle Advance, a line of financial credit products aimed at small business owners.
Ranked third, Zerto is at the forefront of helping businesses of all sizes migrate their data into the virtual ‘cloud’ environment safely and efficiently. Founded in 2010 by storage industry veteran, Ziv Kedem, the Israeli-based IT firm protects its clients' data and applications whether they reside on traditional IT storage systems or on new virtual cloud-based systems. Zerto's line of ‘hypervisor-based’ replication software is the first of its kind, making data protection easier, simpler and more secure for businesses of all sizes.
