Joining the campaign to request for equal marriage rights for same-sex couples

Deloitte Tohmatsu Group (Takashi Nagata, Group CEO | Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) hereby declares an agreement to the campaign of “Business For Marriage Equality” to request for equal marriage rights for same-sex couples to be legalized, empowered by LLAN (Lawyers for LGBT & Allies Network), Nijiiro Diversity, and Marriage For All Japan.
Japan is the only country among G7 nations where the partnership of same-sex couple is not legally granted nationwide, under this fast-moving environment –while there are 29 countries and regions embracing equal marriage rights. “Business For Marriage Equality” is a movement to request for equal marriage rights for same-sex couples, which is expected to empower further global talent acquisition and investment opportunities from the open market as equally as other like-minded countries. Also, legally-secured lives for employees with same-sex partners shall improve holistic health and wellness as well as further productivities –leading to more sustainable and inclusive society.
Deloitte Tohmatsu Group has been empowering LGBT initiatives as part of our D&I (Diversity & Inclusion) strategies. We have holistic initiatives in all our offices nationwide to create networks and to empower mindset and further understanding -from system and facilities perspective such as unisex bathrooms and revision of the policies to include same-sex marriage into the corporate benefit scopes, to LGBT specific consultation teams and management learning sessions, as well as regional Ally Networks. With these initiatives in place, we have just won the Gold Award over PRIDE Index for 3 consecutive years, set by voluntary organization of work with Pride.
