TOKYO, JAPAN, March 29, 2023

Deloitte Tohmatsu Group (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo/Group CEO: Kenichi Kimura) is sponsoring Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2023, one of the Asia's largest LGBT+ events, as a Silver Sponsor and will have a booth at the Pride Festival to be held in Yoyogi Park from Saturday, 22 April to Sunday, 23 April. In addition, we will be sponsoring Nagoya Rainbow Pride 2023 on Saturday, 3 June for the first time, and we will have our booth at Oasis 21 Galaxy Platform.

At both events, our booths will share the concept, #BridgeOverTheRainbow, becoming a bridge for a better future, and collect Ally messages from visitors to achieve more inclusive future. In exchange, the visitors will get our original chopsticks* which can be a tool to start a dialogue about diversity and LGBT+ inclusion with those around you. (*In Japanese, bridge and chopsticks are homophonous -both pronounced as “hashi”) We will also make donations to LGBT+ support groups based on the number of messages received, and we will share our insights on workplace LGBT+ inclusion initiatives.

■About Tokyo Rainbow Pride

Tokyo Rainbow Pride is one of the largest LGBT+ related events in Asia to celebrate diversity and empower inclusive society where everyone, including LGBT+ members, can connect to pursue a society where they can be true to themselves without discrimination or stereotypes. This year, the theme is "Press on till Japan changes".

■About Nagoya Rainbow Pride

Nagoya Rainbow Pride also aims to create an inclusive society where all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can live true to themselves with pride.

*To prevent the spread of COVID-19, there may be a crowd control both for the Pride Festival and the Pride Parade. Please refer to the official website (Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2023 / Nagoya Rainbow Pride *in Japanese only) for details.

LGBT+ initiatives at Deloitte Tohmatsu Group

Deloitte Tohmatsu Group is empowering various initiatives to create more inclusive work environment under the vision of “Leveraging our differences for the better – Striving from the Business, Thriving for the Society.” As a part of our efforts, we are empowering LGBT+ inclusion initiatives. Deloitte Tohmatsu Group already defines same-sex partners as spouses under our welfare system (parental leave for spouses, congratulatory and/or condolence leave, and congratulatory/condolence allowance) and grants additional paid leave for reasons such as gender-affirming care, including hormone treatments. In addition, mandatory training on LGBT+ inclusion has been conducted for all members - from top management including the CEO to new joiner staffs for better understanding of SOGI (gender identity and sexual orientation) along with our own Ally Network community activities. We also host external seminars and publish several reports with our insights and experiences of LGBT+ members, to further empower DEI throughout the society.

We believe an environment where everyone can be true to themselves will contribute to growth and development of society as a whole. We will keep working to create a positive impact on society, not just creating an inclusive work environment, and will work actively to advocate the importance of empowering diversity and LGBT+ inclusion, and to communicate them to the next generation.
