Open Innovation by Large Corporations and Startups
In an effort to accelerate innovation, large corporations have begun to collaborate with startups for their ability to rapidly create new ideas and innovations. Progressive large companies are holding presentations and events with startups, implementing incubation programs, and establishing Corporate Venture Capital programs to become more involved with startups.
Startup Lectures at Waseda University Business School
Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support’s Yuma Saito and Masayuki Kimura gave a lecture at Waseda University’s Business School on “Creating startups and new business development”. The case used introduced an example of a large corporation successfully partnering with a startup to create new business ideas through open innovation. In addition, Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support and Waseda University held a workshop-style lecture to analyze business models of domestic and overseas startups. The main goal of this lecture was to enlighten the business school students, who will be important members of large corporations, on how large corporations can profit from partnering with startups.
Corporations should consider cooperating with startups to innovate and create new business ideas.
